“Pal-Think for Strategic Studies” concluded a training titled “Conflict-resolution and communal-peace-building skills”, which extended from 23–28 November, within the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), with the participation of 25 trainees, with the goal of building the capacities of rising Palestinian youth in strategic thinking and communal work.
The course's trainer, Mr Mahmoud Abdel Hadi, said: “In the training we focused on building coexistence among the youth category, and shed light on the principle of the individual differences that cause conflicts, and on resolving conflicts and spreading this culture”.
During the training period the trainees became acquainted with the conceptual frame of conflicts and the stages of their development, with identifying conflicts in society and how to intervene and set solutions for them, and with managing educational sessions for the youth around conflict resolution.
The trainees expressed their gratitude to “Pal-Think” for the quality of the training: the trainee Areej Jreid (24 years), a graduate of the specialisation of history and political science, said: “My personal and communal skills were weak because at the university we receive only a theoretical curriculum, while here in the training the activities are practical. We trained on resolving conflicts and how to intervene and set solutions for them”.
Areej praised “Pal-Think's” attention to the youth category and its constant endeavour to educate them and develop their strategic thinking.
From his side, Alaa al-Far (20 years), a law student, said: “We trained on the steps of dealing peacefully with any conflict we might face, and we also trained on accepting the viewpoint of the other side”. He added: “This training will benefit us in all the fields of life”.
It is recalled that the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development” will extend to the month of April 2020, and contains varied lectures in Palestinian law and democracy. It also includes several varied training programmes, such as: leadership and communication skills, building the digital identity on the social-media sites, conflict resolution, writing research papers, and others. Through the project, “Pal-Think” aims at developing the culture of Palestinian youth and spreading the culture of non-violence and coexistence among them.
