The Banaa Youth Centre opened the camp “Youth are the hope of life” in partnership with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies and FXB, within the project “Restoring hope to the youth and children of Gaza”, with the attendance of Ms Sally al-Sammak from Pal-Think and the chairman of the centre's board of directors Mr Awni Abu Ismail, and 20 male and female participants from the Khan Younis governorate.
Ms Sally al-Sammak spoke of the importance of the project, which aims to provide free spaces for Gazan youth for release and psychological recreation — especially as the project comes as an emergency response after the latest aggression on the Gaza Strip in May 2021 — and to qualify 20 young men and women to carry out a communal initiative that reaches the greatest possible number of beneficiaries and achieves the camp's particular goal in light of the pressures generated because of the aggression.
The first day takes up a training on writing initiatives and how to choose initiative ideas, tying them to society and the youth category, and the conditions that must be present in the initiative. This recreational training camp continues for “five days”, and the camp is completed by the carrying out of an initiative by the youth who attended the training camp, after its idea emerges through them.
It is recalled that this camp will focus on psychological support and recreation for the participating youth, and qualifying them in how to prepare initiatives — in addition to focusing on extracurricular activities and effective communal participation, and strengthening the initiators' personality so that they are able to reach society and ease the intensity of the psychological pressures upon them, in addition to recreational encounters. The camp comes within the activities of the Banaa Youth Centre after the latest aggression, as it carried out many activities and programmes aiming to ease the pressures on all society's categories, and release and psychological-support encounters.
