In the Rafah governorate the events of the environmental training camp “Baladna Ahla” (Our country is more beautiful) set off, organised by the Friends Association for Persons with Special Needs in partnership with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies and with funding from FXB, within the project “Restoring hope to the youth and children of Gaza” — with the attendance of Ms Sally al-Sammak from Pal-Think and Mr Sami Barhoum, programmes director at the Friends Association, and with the participation of 20 young men and women with disability and without disability.
Mr Sami Barhoum affirmed that the goal of organising this camp is contributing to easing the psychological pressures from which the youth suffer, especially persons with disability, after the latest aggression on the Gaza Strip — in addition to strengthening youth's role in preserving the environment in Palestine, imparting to them new knowledge and skills on the environmental reality in Palestine, and strengthening the values of voluntary work and environment-friendly practices in them
.Mr Sami Barhoum likewise directed abundant thanks to the people at Pal-Think for Strategic Studies for their support in organising this camp, and praised the distinguished partnership model with Pal-Think, which contributes greatly to strengthening the integration and empowerment of young men and women with disability in society and strengthens the opportunities of growing their skills
Ms Sally al-Sammak affirmed in her word that Pal-Think encourages, through its various programmes and activities, the integration and empowerment of persons with disability, especially young men and women — in addition to its constant keenness to grant youth the opportunity to grow their research and professional capacities and strengthen their participation in public life; in addition, this camp comes within the frame of Pal-Think's firm conviction of the importance of granting young men and women a greater opportunity to prove themselves. Ms Sally al-Sammak affirmed that this camp is carried out within the project of restoring hope to the youth and children of Gaza, through which we seek to ease the psychological pressures from which the youth suffer, especially after the latest aggression, and to encourage them to contribute to building their country.
Worth mentioning is that the camp will continue for 5 days, interspersed with a set of diverse activities such as plastic-waste recycling activities, plastic art, sports and recreational activities, in addition to psychological-support and release activities, field visits to vital environmental facilities and projects in the Gaza Strip, training sessions on preparing and writing the ideas of communal-initiative proposals, educational encounters on the environmental reality in Palestine, and external accompanying activities. The camp will then be followed by a communal initiative carried out by the young men and women with the participation of society's different categories, strengthening civil peace, restoring their feeling of life, and recharging positive energy.
