Pal-Think holds its general assembly and elects a new board

Pal-Think held its annual shareholders' meeting on 9 April 2020, discussing the administrative and financial report and electing the board of directors, attended by Yaqoub Al-Ghandour, companies controller at the economy ministry.

Pal-Think for Strategic Studies held its annual shareholders' meeting to discuss the administrative and financial report and hold the board of directors' elections, at its headquarters located in Gaza City. The meeting was held with the attendance of Mr Yaqoub al-Ghandour, “companies controller at the Ministry of National Economy in Gaza”, and Mr Ayman al-Khalidi, “director of the companies-oversight department”, and with the attendance of 11 members of the company's general assembly.

The meeting was opened by Mr Omar Shaban, founder and director of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, welcoming the attendees and wishing safety to all in light of the difficult circumstances the whole world is passing through. He likewise affirmed the Pal-Think institution's role in enriching, strengthening, and encouraging discussion, dialogue, and joint thinking about the issues that concern the present and future of the Palestinian people, and pointed out that the Pal-Think institution, through its activities and projects, has worked to strengthen cooperation and partnership between the institutions from all the Palestinian governorates through supporting and funding the joint initiatives between the governorates. He likewise affirmed that Pal-Think gives great attention to investing in the youth through strengthening and developing their research capacities, bringing viewpoints among them closer, and strengthening the language of dialogue among them.

He likewise presented a summary of the institution's activities during 2019, especially in the field of strengthening the culture of non-violence, communal reconciliation, and national dialogue, in addition to strengthening research skills among the youth and encouraging partnership between the various institutions in the Palestinian governorates. The financial report was likewise read in its text by the financial auditor, “al-Wafa Company for Financial Consultations and Auditing”, and the financial and administrative reports were ratified unanimously by the shareholders.

Following the evaluation of the previous achievements and the setting of the future goals, the general assembly's members nominated themselves for the elections of the new board of directors, and the elections took place according to the recognised laws and regulations. On the basis of the elections' results, the new board members were chosen from all the Palestinian governorates, and they are: Omar Shaban as chairman, Dr Nasser al-Yafawi vice-chairman, Dr Hazem Kawasmi, Alaa al-Ghalayini, Dr Nadia Abu Zaher, Dr Marwan Tarazi, Dr Khaled Safi.

It is worth mentioning that Pal-Think for Strategic Studies is an independent Palestinian civil research institution licensed by the companies registrar at the Ministry of Economy in the Palestinian National Authority since March 2007, and it works on the important national issues at the local, regional, and international level, in addition to investing in the youth category and strengthening their capacities and skills.
