Gaza – The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies centre hosted yesterday, Wednesday 28 November 2012, in Gaza City, a high-level delegation of the European Union headed by Mr John Gatt-Rutter, the European Union's representative in the Palestinian territories. He was accompanied by each of Mr Sergio Piccolo, Ms Esmee de Jong, Mr Joris Van Winckel, Ms Antonia Zafeiri, and Mr Ayman Fteiha. The European delegation's visit to the Gaza Strip comes after the end of the recent Israeli escalation against the Gaza Strip, which continued eight days.
The European delegation discussed with a number of Palestinian figures many political and economic issues, and especially the developments the Gaza Strip witnessed recently.
At the meeting's end Mr Omar Shaban, director of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, thanked the European delegation for the visit, pointing to the depth and solidity of the Palestinian-European relations and praising the important role the European Union plays in supporting the Palestinian territories — criticising the unbalanced position of the European Union that was issued by Ms Catherine Ashton, the representative of foreign policy in the European Union, on the Israeli escalation against the Gaza Strip.
