Pal-Think for Strategic Studies concluded a training titled “Social-media-platform skills and building a digital identity”, which extended from 19–21 November, within the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which aims at building the capacities of rising Palestinian youth in strategic thinking and communal work, with the participation of 25 trainees, chosen on the basis of their competences.

On the first day the trainees received the methods of building the digital identity on the two levels: the personal, and for social campaigns; and on the second and third days, applying the initiatives and promoting them and designing the logo, the content, and the posters. They also trained on producing a promo for the initiatives via the mobile phone.

In his turn, the course's trainer Mohammed Abu al-Qumboz said: “Training the youth in creating social initiatives is a matter of utmost importance, especially training them in employing technology and the social-media means to serve their society. The trainees produced four social initiatives about bullying and violence against women and children, and created trial pages for the initiatives on Facebook and Instagram, and now they know how to raise the rate of the public's interaction with the pages' content”.

He added: “Pal-Think always focuses on the leaders of tomorrow, and prepares a generation ready for any leadership opportunity that might be made available to it in the near future. It is important to hone the youth's skills now, as they are in a stage of transformation”.

The trainees expressed their gratitude to “Pal-Think” for the quality of the training: the trainee Nour al-Louh (23 years), a master's student of clinical psychology, said: “I am very happy in my joining the programme; I received information and trainings that exceeded my expectations. During the coming period I will exploit all the skills I acquired to plan a social campaign to demand the youth's right in the elections and their right in the election lists”.

From her side, Haya al-Ghalayini (18 years), a student at the faculty of commerce, said that her view of reality changed after the training. She added: “The course Pal-Think presented covered all the aspects and skills I need. Pal-Think is an important point in my life; before the training my focus was only on the university and on high grades, but now I have begun looking toward communal activities, and toward investing in myself for the future”.

She concluded by saying: “Pal-Think focuses on the future, and made me focus on my future, and I do not expect to forget this experience. I say to Pal-Think: thank you from all my heart”.

It is recalled that the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development” will continue to the month of April 2020, and includes qualitative training programmes and varied scientific lectures, in order to create the faculty of strategic and critical thinking in the youth, and strengthen the culture of dialogue and accepting the other, so that they be the nucleus of the independent Palestinian state.
