“Pal-Think for Strategic Studies” opened a training programme titled “Preparing and writing research papers”, within the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), with the participation of 20 trainees, university students and graduates from the different specialisations.
The training was opened by the director of the “Pal-Think” institution, Omar Shaban, welcoming the attendees, and he said that this training comes within the efforts of “Pal-Think”, as an independent Palestinian research institution, in advancing the youth's research capacities — as this training will help the trainees in analysing the current issues, and shedding light on the rights of the Palestinian people to convince non-Palestinians of them.
On the first day the trainees became acquainted with the types of scientific research, the structure of research papers, the way of finding the research idea, and the types of narrative. The trainees also carried out several activities collectively to strengthen working in a team spirit.
In his turn, the trainer Dr Islam Atallah said: “This training develops the youth's capacities of criticism and digging for information in a scientific way, and not according to personal opinion. Accordingly this training will help them in shedding light on the issues facing Palestinian society, and examining their causes and solutions”.
From his side, the trainee Nour al-Louh (23 years), a psychologist, expressed his happiness with the training, saying: “I had a passion for writing research papers, because it is connected with my future goals, for I want to research the subject of youth participation in the decision-making circles”.
As for the trainee Areej Jreid (24 years), a graduate of history and political science, she said: “Writing research papers is important for the youth, so that they shed light on the principal problems facing them — perhaps they will reach the officials”.
It is recalled that this training is the last in the project “Youth Forum for Politics and Development”, which extended from July to December 2019, at 80 training hours, divided into five training programmes: leadership and communication skills, building the digital identity on the social-media sites, methods of lobbying and advocacy in human rights and democracy, conflict-resolution and communal-peace-building skills, and preparing and writing research papers — in addition to ten varied lectures in Palestinian history, democracy, law, and international politics, presented by an elite of specialists. This programme comes as a continuation of the Pal-Think institution's programmes, continuous since 2007, in the service of economic and political development, and especially for the youth.
