Pal-Think for Strategic Studies opened a training programme titled “Freedom and Entrepreneurship Ambassadors”, funded by the Atlas Network. The training aims to build the capacities of rising Palestinian youth in creative thinking for building their small projects in the future. Taking part in the programme are 22 trainees chosen on the basis of their competence and passion, to become the ambassadors of the future for building a better society.
The training was opened by the director of Pal-Think, Mr Omar Shaban, welcoming the trainees, pointing to the importance of learning about the concepts of entrepreneurship and communal entrepreneurship, for the true and effective impact that has in creating work opportunities, reducing the growing unemployment rates, spreading the concepts of freedom, and building a Palestinian youth cadre able to create through designing and planning entrepreneurial ideas.
He said: “This training is considered fundamental to enable you to prepare a plan for a project of your own, through which you can create work opportunities for yourselves and go out to your communities with entrepreneurial ideas. Entrepreneurial youth can change many of the circumstances we live, especially in the Gaza Strip”
The programme's trainer, Eng. Mohammed al-Afifi, an academic at the University College of Applied Sciences and a certified trainer from Stanford University, affirmed the results expected from the training programme, which will extend over ten days. The participants will become acquainted during it with the concept of entrepreneurship, the qualities of the successful entrepreneur, the formulation of the project idea, acquaintance with the business model and the business plan, and other topics related to how to obtain funding for the project and market it.
The first day of the training took up a general assessment of the participants, the qualities of the successful entrepreneur, the concept of entrepreneurship, the stages of its development, and the importance of the opportunity and obtaining it. The trainees were likewise divided into several groups and took part in collective activities to grow the spirit of working within a team and to strengthen the spirit of cooperation among them.
It is recalled that the project “Freedom and Entrepreneurship Ambassadors” contains diverse training encounters in entrepreneurship and small projects. It also comprises carrying out 15 workshops, giving the trainees the opportunity to share their experiences during the training with other target categories — which strengthens youth's role in society.
