The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution held today, Sunday (4-3), a workshop titled “Practical solutions for the youth's economic problems”, within the project of strengthening democratic education funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), at the Majdoon developmental association for supporting the youth in Rafah, south of the Strip.
The meeting, which aims at making the youth aware of their role in solving the problems facing them in Palestinian society, was attended by around 20 male and female students.
In the meeting's opening, the graduate Mohammed al-Farra (a graduate of English language and holder of a training-of-trainers course within the project) spoke of the relation of politics to the economy, and his talk met agreement from the participants that most of the problems from which the youth suffer are economic, as a result of the political crises from which Palestinian society suffers.
The attendees discussed most of the problems from which the youth suffer, taking unemployment as a model for their discussion, and the use of the internet was raised as one of the solutions proposed for the problem, coinciding with the increase of the importance of freelance work via the internet at the present time and the absence of job opportunities in the Strip.
At the meeting's conclusion the attendees praised the importance of making the youth aware of what must be done to lighten the effect of the problems from which they suffer in the Strip, affirming the importance of such meetings in honing their capacities and knowledge.
