Pal-Think for Strategic Studies organised a closing encounter for the civic-educator project, with the attendance of the ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom, Dr Husam Zomlot, and Mr Omar Shaban, director of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, and the members of the civic-education body — at the office of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies on Tuesday, 29 June 2021.

The encounter was opened by the director of Pal-Think, Mr Omar Shaban, welcoming Dr Husam Zomlot and valuing his attendance, and reviewing the importance of diplomatic work in defending the Palestinian cause, it being counted among the strongest means that achieve practical successes if invested well.

He likewise spoke about the project “Preparing a Civic Educator”, and made clear that this project continued for a year, during which 25 university students in the Gaza Strip were targeted and subjected to intensive training at the hands of experts in the topics of democracy, human rights, gender-based violence, good governance, the system of government in Palestine, and the skills of presentation and delivery; then the opportunity was granted before them to pass what they learned to their young peers in the universities, through opening the field before them to carry out awareness meetings targeting the students at the universities on the topics they had received intensive trainings on — 15 awareness meetings were carried out.

Likewise, 5 radio episodes were carried out with the participation of the students, members of the civic-education body, as well as the issuing of a training manual comprising the training topics that were focused on during the intensive training programme.

For his part, Dr Husam Zomlot spoke on the importance of Palestinian youth's role in advocating the Palestinian cause in light of the development of social-media platforms — pointing out that Palestinian youth succeeded during the latest events in drawing the world's attention to the Palestinian people's suffering and pushing them toward engaging and taking part in expressing rejection of the Palestinian reality, and leading international calls demanding the improvement of the Palestinian reality.

Zomlot likewise affirmed that the most important and greatest investment that must be worked on permanently is investment in the capacities and skills of youth, since youth are the most energetic and effective and the most capable of changing the reality.
