Within the civic-educator project, the civic-education body at Pal-Think for Strategic Studies carried out a face-to-face awareness workshop titled “Gender-based violence (reality and solutions)”, on Thursday, 18 February 2021, at the Fares al-Arab institution, with the attendance of a number of male and female students of the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip
This comes within the project “Preparing a Civic Educator”, implemented by Pal-Think for Strategic Studies with funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
The meeting was led by the student Suha Sukkar, “a trainee in the civic-educator project”, who in turn spoke on the concept of gender, the difference between it and the concept of sex, and gender roles — in addition to talk on the forms of gender-based violence in the Palestinian condition and the mechanisms of dealing with cases of gender-based violence; she likewise reviewed the legal texts that treat the issues of gender-based violence.
The meeting was interspersed with a set of questions, interventions, and enquiries put forward by the attendees, and answered by the meeting's facilitator.
