The Youth Forum for Tolerance at Pal-Think for Strategic Studies organised a volunteer day to help the farmers with picking the olives in the Gaza Strip, with the participation of more than 20 young men and women of the youth forum's members.

From his side, Omar Shaban, director of the Pal-Think institution, welcomed the participants, praising their participation in the volunteer day, and pointed out that the goal of this initiative is strengthening and breathing the spirit of voluntary work into the youth's souls and shedding light on the importance of voluntary work through integrating the youth with the local community and making them an active element in society.

He noted that the olive trees carry great religious and civilisational meanings beyond price, in addition to their high contribution to the local income.

At the day's end the farmers expressed their overflowing joy, presenting abundant thanks to the youth forum's members for their efforts expended in helping the farmers in the olive-picking season, hoping that the olive-picking season in the coming years enjoys wider Palestinian attention through the repetition of such activities that help the farmers and lighten their burdens in light of the difficult economic conditions.

This activity comes within a series of communal activities the forum carries out, through which it aims at strengthening the youth's role in social, political, and cultural participation, reaching the strengthening of the communal reconciliation and shedding light on a set of issues and values that serve our Palestinian society in its wide sense — reaching a society that respects and values the youth and believes in their energy and vitality, reaching sustainable development.
