The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution, in cooperation with the Beit al-Quds institution for studies and research, organised an exhibition — the first in the Palestinian territories — titled “Palestine through the eyes of the orientalists”, with the participation of a wide stratum of representatives of civil-society organisations, academics, researchers, artists, and youth assemblies, and with wide media participation, on Sunday 3/11/2013 at the Grand Palace hotel in Gaza City.

The exhibition included the most important paintings of the Western orientalists who came to Palestine and the Levant during the era between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, which formed the most important features of political, social, and cultural life in that era

and a description of the social form, the dress, the heritage, and the civilisational landmarks at that time — making of them manuscripts that chronicle that era. The pictures are considered an artistic narration of the pattern of the citizens' daily life: they painted the mosques, the churches, the buildings, the mountains, the plains, the houses, and the citizens' life in all its forms of customs and traditions — painted with a genius brush distinguished by its precision and creativity, and encompassing the various Palestinian cities and antiquities.

The exhibition met wide turnout from the attendees and the official and foreign delegations, who hoped that such exhibitions be held in all the Palestinian territories for what they represent of national importance.
