Following up the efforts of the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance affiliated to Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, as an independent Palestinian youth gathering seeking to strengthen dialogue and discussion around the issues and challenges facing Palestinian society and Palestinian youth in particular, the Forum organised a session titled “Youth Dialogue”, in order to activate the Youth Forum, determine the goals on which the Forum will rest for this year, and choose the executive committee for the Forum's activities.
The youth discussed the importance of the role of the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance in strengthening the principles of culture, democracy, and equality among the youth — because Palestinian youth generally face many problems that stand between them and the achievement of their goals and dreams, in light of the suffocating blockade and the occupation that forms an obstacle in their face. The youth likewise affirmed the necessity of youth communal participation, reaching the achievement of the social reconciliation that would pave the way for achieving the political reconciliation, and influencing positively the general political issues of youth — through the Forum being considered a recognised partner with the local and international institutions.
Those gathered agreed to begin carrying out youth activities to raise the youth's awareness of their rights and of the national values and constants, through lectures, training sessions, artistic performances, workshops, and reading clubs, focusing on the topics the youth lack — such as academic freedoms (the right to education), women's rights, human rights, democracy, citizenship, freedom of opinion, reconciliation, and many other topics the youth see themselves in need of understanding and grasping in the best way, so that they can apply them in their practical lives.
In closing, the members of the Youth Forum elected an executive committee composed of seven individuals to facilitate and carry out the activities of the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance — many of the youth nominated themselves to join the executive committee, while the rest voted for them.
