The Youth Forum for Reconciliation & Tolerance meets the Spanish consul
The Youth Forum's executive committee met Spain's consul in Jerusalem and EED executive-committee member Juan José Escobar, with EED coordinator Marie Chamberlain, to discuss the Forum's work and the condition of Gaza's youth.

Gaza — 24/5/2016: The executive committee of the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance affiliated to Pal-Think for Strategic Studies met the Spanish consul in Jerusalem and member of the executive committee of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), Mr Juan José Escobar, and the coordinator of the executive committee of the European Endowment for Democracy, Ms Marie Chamberlain, to discuss general youth issues and discuss the activities to be carried out through the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance. The meeting took up many of the important issues from which youth suffer and how to work to activate their role in the communal and political issues — especially the students of the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip, who suffer from the scarcity of capabilities and support for delivering their voices and increasing their influence in Palestinian society. The meeting likewise touched on talk of practical mechanisms and ideas to increase closeness and spread the spirit of tolerance among the spectra and strata of the Palestinian people, and the pursuit of advancing the ambitions and goals of Palestinian youth.
The Spanish consul focused on the necessity of entrenching the principles of trust among Palestinian youth of the different political orientations, to enable the principles and foundations of reconciliation and democracy among the youth. The consul likewise expressed his great admiration for the constructive ideas the members put forward, of a kind to bring the youth closer to one another, and encouraged them to continue working in order to contribute to change, reaching a true communal reconciliation. For her part, Ms Marie praised the idea of the Youth Forum and endorsed the opinions of the youth enthusiastic to take part in developing their skills and capacities, and called on them to work more on spreading the values and principles of democracy and passing them to their young peers in the Gaza Strip, so that they can obtain a more competent and developed society.
Worth mentioning is that the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance is a Palestinian youth gathering affiliated to Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, an independent youth gathering seeking to strengthen dialogue and discussion around the issues and challenges facing Palestinian society and Palestinian youth in particular.
