Following up the activities of the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance affiliated to Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, as an independent Palestinian youth gathering seeking to strengthen dialogue and discussion around the issues and challenges facing youth and Palestinian society, the Youth Forum for Reconciliation and Tolerance organised a lecture titled “An introduction to political terms”, within the project “Strengthening democracy and the principles of communal awareness”, in cooperation with the graduates department at Al-Umma University in Gaza — with the attendance of Dr Fahmi Shurrab, professor of political science. The workshop was opened by Ms Heba Isleem, who praised the crew of Pal-Think and Al-Umma University for their efforts in coordinating this lecture, and affirmed that this encounter serves an important stratum in society, namely Palestinian youth, and called for the necessity of networking with civil society institutions to increase the level of thought and awareness among the students, graduates, and youth.
For his part, Dr Shurrab focused on the importance of knowing the political and rights terms and speaking them with the outside world, and of educating Palestinian youth in the field of political science. Shurrab pointed out, through his experience, that politics is much tied to the English language, calling on all the attendees to give attention to the language for its great effect in delivering a clear picture to the Arab and international world. He explained many of the political concepts and terms the youth need in their working lives and their study specialisations. At the encounter's close, Dr Shurrab encouraged the students to give attention to any political term that serves the Palestinian cause, and to benefit as possible from all of political science to deliver our voice and our justice to the whole world.
