Pal-Think for Strategic Studies concluded a training-of-trainers course within the first phase of the project “Strengthening democratic education”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy “NED”, with the participation of 26 young men and women among the university graduates from the different governorates of the Gaza Strip, of different specialisations.
The training continued for 10 days during the month of July at the hands of competent trainers, taking up several topics in democratic education and the strengthening of the concepts of peace and tolerance, how to create leading, pioneering youth, the conduct of lobbying and advocacy campaigns, and training in presentation skills — with the aim of qualifying them to be distinguished trainers in democratic education.
The trainings the participants received focused on giving them the skills and knowledge needed to pass on to the local community through a series of meetings and workshops that will target especially the youth sector — from the firm belief that youth are the first and successful tool of change in all the societies that aspire to bring about positive change and the society's development and advancement — in cooperation with several grassroots institutions in all the governorates of the Gaza Strip; these workshops come in the project's second phase.
The participants noted the extent of their benefit from this training course, which contributed to raising their level of awareness and knowledge in all the topics on which the training rested, and helped them straighten their thinking toward the correct path for finding some suitable solutions to the issues of youth and society.
It is recalled that the training was announced during May 2017 and 265 applications for the training were received; thereupon a specialised committee conducted interviews to choose the best participants according to selection criteria the project comprised — foremost that the participant be a community activist and a distinguished initiator.
This step from Pal-Think for Strategic Studies comes within the frame of its working philosophy, resting on investment in the Palestinian young person and their preparation in order to achieve a sustainable result whose aim is spreading the values of citizenship, democracy, and tolerance.
