The Bonyan Association from Gaza, in partnership with the Arab Women for Jerusalem Association in the city of Jerusalem — with interventions by participation through the Skype programme — carried out a workshop to discuss the research paper, in cooperation with the Palestinian Journalist Assembly for Human Rights, on Sunday 30/12/2018. This workshop comes within the activities of the initiative “Toward the true compass of the Palestinian media”, which the association implements with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies within the activities of the project “Strengthening cooperation among Palestinian local community organisations for strengthening the future Palestinian state”.

Through the initiative's coordinator Mr Raed Abu Saada, the workshop discussed the research paper that came as an output of two workshops carried out with media figures, journalists, media graduates, and media students; the paper discussed the following axes:

The first axis: how neutrality and professionalism can be achieved in the Palestinian media

The second axis: what obstacles and challenges exist on the ground that limit the media's freedom and neutrality

The third axis: how the media can contribute to treating the division's political, social, and economic effects

The fourth axis: ideas, initiatives, and media activities in advocacy of a neutral media

The fifth axis: a code of conduct on the media's neutrality

In this context, the Bonyan Association, represented by its executive director Ms Ihsan Awad, extends thanks to all who took part in the workshops, and profound thanks to the partners in the work — the Arab Women for Jerusalem Association and the Palestinian Journalist Assembly for Human Rights — and to the umbrella incubating the initiative's idea, Pal-Think for Strategic Studies
