The Amjad Association for Creativity and Development, in partnership with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, concluded a lecture titled “Youth's right to political and democratic participation”, within the project “Strengthening tolerance and entrepreneurship” funded by the Atlas Network — hosting youth activist Ms Rana Abu Shaban, in the presence of 30 university students and graduates from the Gaza Strip, of both sexes and various specialisations.
The lecture aimed to strengthen the concepts of political participation among youth; increase young people's awareness of the importance of their participation in political life; develop young men's and women's capacities in the mechanisms of activating political participation; strengthen young people's awareness of the laws that reflect their rights to political participation; and deepen awareness of the importance of identity, which is a gateway to democratic political participation.
The lecture took up many axes, foremost: the concept of political participation; the kinds and forms of political participation; the levels of political participation; the reasons young people turn away from political participation; the mechanisms of activating youth participation in political life; and the laws that laid the frame for Palestinian society's participation in political life.
