Pal-Think for Strategic Studies implemented the training programme on women's and gender issues within the project “Research writings in gender and feminism”, funded by the government of Canada for the second consecutive year — within the institution's vision of working for the positive development of youth in the Gaza Strip in particular and Palestine in general, and building their capacities so they can effect positive change in society socially, politically, developmentally, and culturally. It was thus incumbent on Pal-Think to know the essential needs of young people of both sexes and work to meet them when shaping its youth-directed plans and programmes — as necessary requirements to be recognised and worked on to set young men and women at the start of the path.
The beginning in the first year was “skills of expression and intellectual writing”, with 25 trainees; in the second year the focus was on “gender writings” for 24 trainees. This book comes as the crowning of fruits that ran from September 2020 to February 2021: research papers specialised in gender issues, carrying the visions of the young generation, are a fundamental demand and a pressing need amid the mounting statistics and figures pointing to the widening gap in gender roles and the rates of gender-based violence shown by the national statistics.
