The United Nations, in its capacity as partner and mediator among nations and peoples, issued the strategy “Youth 2030: Working with and for young people” — an umbrella framework that provides guidance to the whole organisation as it seeks to intensify its work with and for youth across its three pillars — peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development — in all contexts. The report's statistics highlight that the world today is home to the largest generation of youth in human history: 1.8 billion young people, nearly 90% of whom live in developing countries, where they form a large share of the population.
The number of young people is expected to rise by 2030, which warrants the search for a better reality for youth and their integration into the process of sustainable development. The strategy aims to facilitate greater impact and expanded action at the global, regional, and country levels to meet young people's needs, strengthen their role, and advance their rights in all their diversity around the world.
