Amid the political transformations of the Palestinian political system — above all in the present conditions after the latest war on the Gaza Strip — this paper opens a discussion of the generational representation of youth in the structure of governance. Although Palestinian society is a young society, the paths of political representation remain narrow, particularly in the absence of legislative elections since 2006. The paper discusses how this reality widened the gap between decision-makers and the young generations, examines the structural conditions blocking youth's passage from marginalisation to political agency, and proposes a deeper understanding of how participation and representation might be rebuilt to reflect the social and demographic transformations of Palestinian society.
This paper was issued under the project «Empowering youth in civil peace through elections and respect for pluralism», implemented by Pal-Think for Strategic Studies in partnership with the French Consulate-General in Jerusalem.
