This study, by researcher Talal Abu Rokba, explores the value transformations among Palestinian youth, specifically after the Palestinian division deepened and took root.
The transformations that have battered Palestinian society are intertwined and entangled: the political factor mixes with the economic, the social, the cultural, and the demographic. In their totality these transformations do not move along fixed, clear lines whose path and directions can practically be predicted — which necessarily calls for studying those transformations and changes and attempting to anticipate their course in Palestine, particularly over the last two decades.

In light of the general context of the Palestinian condition, responsibilities cannot be divided among the political, social, and cultural components, official and civil, in addressing the reflection of these transformations on Palestinian youth. Any Palestinian treatment or approach must therefore encompass all the structures shaping the reality of youth, and push those structures in their various directions to work according to a holistic approach that enables young people to cross their miserable reality — by adopting an integrated strategy, economic, social, and intellectual, that restores youth's lustre and invests in them toward strengthening their roles in public life.
