Third radio episode concludes: can youth groupings express young people's ambitions?

Pal-Think delivered the third radio episode of «Democracy and Youth» on Alwan Radio, funded by the Government of Canada, under «Strengthening democratic and civic values of Palestinian youth».

The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution organised the third radio episode on “Democracy and the youth” on Alwan radio in the Gaza Strip, with funding from the Canadian government, which comes within the project “Strengthening the democratic and civic values of Palestinian youth”. The programme comes within the realisation of the institution's vision and affirms the youth's role in political participation in decision-making, engaging them in the strategic role, and treating their social issues in a manner suiting their required rights.

The programme's episode also took up the talk on the role of the youth teams in the Gaza Strip and the extent of their expression of the ambitions of the future of Palestinian youth. The episode's guest, the activist Hassan Abu Safar of the Deirna youth team, affirmed that the idea of the youth assemblies and teams is a state produced by the badness of the economic, political, and social conditions, which led to the philosophy of change and the youth's need to band together and fill society's needs through voluntary work.

In his turn, Mr Nadim Qandil of the REFORM team in the West Bank spoke, during a telephone intervention, of the form of the youth teams in the West Bank and the methods and stages of these teams' emergence, where he pointed to the necessity of unifying the youth under one umbrella and the importance of youth participation and filling the gaps and obstacles that impede their movements and the activities they carry out.

The youth activist Fouad Banat also pointed to the difficulties and issues that concern the young person and the role of the youth teams in adopting these issues and helping to solve them, and he affirmed that the youth teams must take the reins of initiative through pressing for the ending of the division, and that the youth's role in the reconciliation process comes to guarantee their empowerment to take their true role, and to work on adopting a national strategy in which the youth are in decision-making.

In the conclusion the participants affirmed the organising of the youth in a fitting form, coinciding with the dangerous challenges the Palestinian people are passing through, able to achieve their inclusion in political work.
