A year after its launch, the Promoting Democratic Education project concludes

The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution concluded today, Thursday (19-4), the project of strengthening democratic education, which continued for a whole year and included many activities and workshops.

The institution's director, Mr Omar Shaban, said that the project came to strengthen the youth's ambition in democratic education and awareness, especially the youth whom fortune has not favoured with participating in any electoral process in the Palestinian territories, because of the continuation of the Palestinian division for 11 years.

Shaban expressed his happiness at the success of the project, among whose most important fruits was the increase of the intellectual awareness of the concept of sound democratic education for the youth.

In his turn, the representative of the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in the Gaza Strip, Dr Ibrahim Abu al-Naja, affirmed in a word of his during the project's closing celebration that what is required of the youth is to rise up to obtain their legitimate rights, at their forefront the freedom of exercising the vote and choosing representatives for themselves.

Abu al-Naja thanked the “Pal-Think” institution for its pioneering role in serving the Palestinian cause at all the levels, especially in the projects that attend to the youth's issues and aim at granting them confidence in themselves in light of the tragic situation the Strip lives through.

Jamil Barakat, one of the participants in the project, considered that it was a turning point for strengthening the democratic concepts resting on freedom and justice, affirming the effort the trainers expended and the modern means used.

The project enjoyed, at its conclusion, the happiness of its participants, who called for more of these projects that strengthen and raise the culture and knowledge of the youth, which helps them in creating a better future.
