Pal-Think holds a discussion of the documentary «In the Land»
Pal-Think held a screening and discussion of the documentary «In the Land» in Rafah with Magazine 28, under the Pal-Think Academy for Democracy and Human Rights with Germany's ifa, attended by a large youth audience.
Pal-Think for Strategic Studies organised a screening and discussion session of a documentary film titled “In the Land” in the Rafah governorate, with the participation of “28 Magazine”, within the activities of the Pal-Think Academy for Democracy and Human Rights project, in cooperation with the German Institute for Foreign Relations (ifa).
The meeting was attended by a large number of young members of the Pal-Think Academy for Democracy and Human Rights, in addition to a number of young artists, writers, and researchers from the Rafah governorate.
The dialogue session discussing the film was opened by Academy member Rawan al-Khatib, welcoming the audience and outlining the core aims of the Pal-Think Academy for Democracy and Human Rights, one of the projects of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies.
The film presented a documentary account of the life of the Indigenous people of Australia, taking up the issue of the coloniser going uncriminalised for killing innocent, simple inhabitants who hold the right to the land — while, by comparison, the Indigenous people are criminalised and denied the right to defend their land.
The screening was followed by an in-depth discussion of how to draw on the Australian experience in the Palestinian context, moderated by Mahmoud al-Shaer in an interactive atmosphere strengthening the concept of democracy and awareness among the youth, with the floor open to discussion and questions — an interactive, dialogic atmosphere and fruitful discussion prevailing among the young trainees and their peers, with personal stories and experiences exchanged.
