The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution carried out a workshop titled “Pressure and advocacy campaigns” within the project “Strengthening democratic education” funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), at the Youth and Environment association in Deir al-Balah, with the attendance of more than 20 male and female students of different university specialisations. The project aims at raising the youth's awareness of democracy, its foundations, and the rights related to it, which contribute to building the youth's capacities and qualifying them to participate in decision-making and the elevation of society.

The meeting was opened by the trainee Samar al-Azayzeh, pointing to the project's role in strengthening their awareness of the democratic and cultural concepts, and she continued speaking of the concept of advocacy, its goals, forms, and means, and the difference between it and pressure. She spoke of the elements of the success of the advocacy process, and the trainee discussed with the attendees the importance of the pressure and advocacy processes in making radical changes in society.

The meeting was continued by the trainee Shams Dawaba, who spoke in her turn about how to build an effective coalition for the issue that needs a pressure and advocacy process, and how to implement the work plan and the follow-up and evaluation of the process. In the conclusion the door of discussion was opened to the attendees, who praised in their turn the subject's importance in influencing the issues from which the youth in the Gaza Strip suffer, and the attendees shared living examples they had implemented in the process of pressure and advocacy around political, social, and cultural issues.
