Pal-Think concludes the second ToT course under the SWITCH project «Turning democracy and human-rights principles into daily practice in Gaza»
Pal-Think concluded a training-of-trainers course in democracy and human rights for the first group of the SWITCH project, implemented with Acted and Convergences and funded by the European Union.
Pal-Think for Strategic Studies concluded the training-of-trainers course in democracy and human rights, under the “SWITCH” project — turning the principles of democracy and human rights into a way of life and daily practice for the residents of the Gaza Strip (first group) — implemented by Pal-Think in cooperation with Acted and Convergences, funded by the European Union.
Pal-Think's director general Omar Shaban closed the training by speaking with the trainees about the next steps in the SWITCH project now that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge. The training programme Pal-Think prepared covered the range of topics specialised in democracy and human rights.
The start was with the concept of human rights and its bearing on the Palestinian reality — the concept of the human being from the standpoint of law and the concept's evolution — with the human-rights trainer Abdullah Sharshara. Trainer Talal Abu Rokba presented the topics of political participation and decision-making in the Palestinian political system, with training on the mechanisms of political decision-making in Palestine.
The second stage of the training programme focused on the concept of democracy, its developments, and its global indicators, with trainer Islam Atallah Mousa. Trainer Tahani Qasem delivered specialised training on gender equality in Palestinian society.
The third stage of the programme came with the media trainer Mohammed Abu Kmeil, training on the skills of media and lawful publishing around the topics of democracy and human rights in Palestinian society — aimed at giving the trainees the essential skills for preparing media materials for publication on media platforms.
The final, closing stage of the training course was devoted to presentation skills — training the trainers in delivery and standing before an audience and the camera, with human-development trainer Samah al-Safadi. The trainees who received the democracy and human-rights trainings will begin, in the project's coming phase, to draw on all the trainings they received in the subsequent stages, devoted to passing on the experience and knowledge they gained in the training to Palestinian society.
