Lecture: «Youth and the culture of community leadership»
Pal-Think held its fifth lecture, «Youth and the culture of community leadership», under «Strengthening democratic and civic values among youth», with 20 young people and university students participating.
The Pal-Think for Strategic Studies institution organised the fifth lecture, titled “The youth and the culture of communal leadership”, within the project “Strengthening the democratic and civic values of the youth” in the Gaza Strip.
20 young men and women and university students from the various areas and neighbourhoods participated in the lecture.
The lecture was presented by Ms Samah al-Safadi, the entrepreneurship and development consultant, and she reviewed the entrances of communal leadership and its most prominent human models.
The lecture took up the concept of civic participation and the role of civic work in stimulating the public and human interests, in addition to becoming acquainted with the skills required of the leaders of the new age.
The meeting touched on defining emotional intelligence and the human being's capacity to understand their feelings, and reviewing its most prominent fields.
Al-Safadi discussed with those present the concept of democratic leadership, its qualities, and its positives that reflect on society in a civilised manner.
The meeting witnessed great interaction from the youth, who called at the meeting's end for the necessity of unifying the youth efforts in order to wrest a true role for the youth during the coming stage, and demanded of the civil-society organisations the contribution to building the democratic and rights awareness among the youth stratum so that they can rise and demand their rights during the coming stage.
The project “Strengthening the democratic and civic values of the youth”, which continues for six months with funding from the Canadian government, includes ten educational lectures and radio episodes on the issues of democracy and political development in Palestinian society.
In addition to three training courses in subjects related to fighting corruption and strengthening the instruments of societal accountability and transparency in Palestinian society.
The Pal-Think institution has worked on bringing in scientific and specialised competences in this field during the project's period.
