Lecture: The culture of dialogue and tolerance in Palestinian society

Pal-Think held the lecture «The culture of dialogue and tolerance in Palestinian society» for 20 students and graduates, under the tolerance-and-entrepreneurship project with the Atlas Network.

Pal-Think for Strategic Studies organised a lecture titled “The culture of dialogue and tolerance in Palestinian society”, with the attendance of 20 of the university students and graduates in the Gaza Strip of both sexes and various specialisations. This lecture comes in the frame of the project “Strengthening tolerance and entrepreneurship” — a project Pal-Think launched in cooperation with the Atlas Network, a non-profit organisation based in the United States of America — as this project aims at strengthening the culture of tolerance, entrepreneurship, and free work among the youth in the Gaza Strip

The lecture was delivered by the writer and political researcher Mr Mansour Abu Karim, who discussed with the participants what dialogue is, its importance, its types, and its conditions, in addition to the concept of tolerance and its effect on the life of individuals and society.

He pointed to the importance of everyone's contribution to spreading such values, and made clear that every person must begin with themselves and not wait for the solution, but rather be part of the solution and not the problem. He divided the youth into 3 groups representing the parties responsible for change — the individual, the family, and society. The participants showed a striking interest in the lecture, as the participants proposed many solutions that would reduce the problems and strengthen the culture of dialogue and tolerance in Palestinian society, among them the family's attention to its children from an early age and founding them upon good morals, such as respecting others and accepting their differences, in addition to conducting awareness workshops for all the categories of society on the concept of dialogue and tolerance, and drawing on the media and the social-media sites to spread the culture of dialogue and tolerance.
