Lecture: Key events in Palestinian history since 1917
Pal-Think delivered the lecture «Key events in Palestinian history since 1917» under the NED-funded Youth Forum for Policy & Development project — building rising young Palestinians' analytical capacities.
Gaza — Pal-Think for Strategic Studies carried out a lecture titled “Important events in Palestinian history since 1917”, within the project “The Youth Forum for Politics and Development”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which aims to build the capacities of rising Palestinian youth in strategic thinking and communal work, grow the youth's knowledge, develop their leadership capacities, and grow and stimulate the culture of dialogue and constructive discussion among the strata of youth. Taking part in the encounter were 25 young men and women of the students and graduates of the universities in the Gaza Strip and from various specialisations.
The lecture was opened by the professor and researcher specialised in the field of history, Dr Nasser al-Yafawi, welcoming the participating youth and thanking the efforts of the Pal-Think institution in the change it brings about in society, whether at the level of the local institutions or Palestinian society generally.
Dr Nasser touched in the discussion on talk of the most important historical stations the Palestinian people has passed through from 1917 to 2017, which included the following: Palestine in the period of the British Mandate, the San Remo conference, the decision to partition Palestine, the birth of the State of Israel, the founding of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its recognition. He likewise spoke of the proclamation of the State of Palestine, and the intifadas the Palestinian people passed through.
Dr Nasser likewise spoke of the events the Palestinian people has passed through in recent years, which included the repeated wars on Gaza, the Palestinian division, and the external attempts to prevent the reaching of the Palestinian people's unity.
Dr Nasser concluded the lecture by speaking of the origin of the heritage and the name of every Palestinian city and village — which stirred the participants' enthusiasm, as each person began, one by one, speaking of their town, their origin, and its heritage.
